The Official Royal Wedding site reports that Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the “beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing.”
The lace appliqué for the bodice and skirt was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework, based at Hampton Court Palace.  Individual flowers have been hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design, which incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock.
Hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace has been used throughout the bodice and skirt, and has been used for the underskirt trim.
The dress is made with ivory and white satin gazar.  The spectacular train measures two metres 70 centimetres (~9 feet).  The ivory satin bodice, which is narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of Alexander McQueen’s designs.

The little buttons on her wrist. Gorgeous.

I love how Pippa’s ensemble complemented Kate’s! The same buttons run down the back of her dress!

Catherine Middleton wearing McQueen by Sarah Burton.  I am forever in love with this dress.

I teared up when I saw her in this stunner! Sigh. The layered train was the icing on the very gorgeous and perfect cake! And the tiara is just right!
Pippa looks beautiful, as well!

DAT G-STAR JACKET. DEM DIESEL JEANS. I would. (Still one of my favorite outfits of his, simple yet effective.) He should wear denim more often, that’s all I’m sayin’. And I want to go shopping with Biebs. Where you at, Ry Good? I need da ~hook up!
This will mean nothing unless you’re @hyblean or @fortunaforme… but, I remember weeping with joy when he wore Balenciaga sneakers at the VMAs and Louis Vuitton Towers at Dan Kanter’s wedding. Hahaha. Then I fell on the floor when I read that he was a fan of Alexander McQueen. /Confessions of a Shopaholic

Josh Parkinson walking in his first ever show,Alexander McQueen [Spring RTW ‘07], June 2006
The thing many people fail to realize is that Alexander McQueen didn’t just create flamboyant, out-of-this-world clothing that one could never wear on the street. He also had a great knack for designing classic, tailored pieces that would compliment anyone’s wardrobe. His versatility was one of my favorite parts about his work, not many designers have a wild enough imagination for that.
